Match Report - Game 6, May 5th 2009

Thanks to guest reporter Magid Shehab.

Sometime around 9:45 we were a little surprised to see the number of players on the opposition, and doubted that we had enough players for the evening, some even suggesting that we forfeit, in a moment of sheer madness. At kick off, we realized it was going to be a very very physical encounter. About 15 minutes into the first half, we faced a yellow card, for a rough tackle, two minutes out for one of us.

Suddenly, Brad “the smasher” Horton slams into the biggest boy on the field to have him say “Are you crazy, are you crazy”, only to have the sucker roll his ankle a little later on and be retired for the rest of the match; karma I suppose. Into the second half, and James is accused of a handball, we are denied two goals, and the boys apply lots and lots of pressure up front. My heart racing at my first ever penalty as goalie, and the guys lays it nice and easy between my legs, the soccer ball that is ;-)

Not sure why James got the penalty on the other end, think it was a handball…but now doubt, and SLAM 1-0, 3 min 45 seconds out from the end….and tears well in my eyes as we score our first win…..it was a sentimental moment. The boys walked away bruised, and possibly battered, but heads held high…..
